The Japan Consortium for Open Access Repository (JPCOAR) serves as a central hub where Japanese universities and research institutions unite their efforts to collaboratively address challenges in advancing Open Access.
JPCOAR provides comprehensive support for the development of open access repositories through the formulation of guidelines, technical assistance, and training programs.
Open Access (OA) allows anyone to freely access and use scholarly articles via the internet. However, OA does more than just promote equal access to information.
By fostering the sharing and reuse of research outcomes, OA generates ripple effects that further encourage interdisciplinary research and innovation, ultimately returning those results to society. Making an article Open Access also benefits the author.
Our efforts are directed towards enabling Japanese open access repositories to operate at a more advanced level, thereby further promoting the dissemination and utilization of research outcomes.
